Globe

Today was not good. 15 miles in pouring rain and no goal. Weather has put a temporary hold on my progress. Not that I have any problem with running in the rain, but my destination, Show Low, AZ is getting pounded with snow right now. Snow is even better to run in than rain BUT it's terrible for RV's and when it's continuous.

If you've seen a weather forecast in the past 48 hours it shows a huge colored spot covering southern California and Arizona. That's where I am. It's very strange for this kind of steady pouring rain here but it is what it is.

The other problem that is blocking progress is that there is nothing between Globe and Show Low. So even if I wanted to rum some, we would have to come back to Globe. Talk about losing some sort of motivation.

What does this mean? I'm frustratingly (is that even a word? If not, it should be. Take note Mr. Webster) stuck in Globe until further notice.
Bummer.

  1. Don't be discouraged. Things happen. In the grand scheme of things it isn't a biggee. In 3 months you will look back, and you will remember it as a burp. That's all. So kick back and relax for a day or two. Give your muscles, tendons, and joints some time to repair themselves. Rent a couple of dvds and relax. Cindy

  2. Patrick. the weather will turn in time and you'll have a renewed sense of strength to get you back on the road. We're behind you through rain. sleet, or snow. I sure this will help you for later in the run. I hate to think about the month it will take to get across Texas.
Here's to hoping that rain turns into a dry Rocky Mtn snow. Fresh tracks every morning!
    Stay strong, happy birthday gpa!

  3. Hang in there Patrick. This is a minor setback in the grand scheme of things. Keep the big picture in mind and remember all the good you are doing and that will pull you through this. Look at it this way...its going to make a great story some day...it will be something like - remember that time we were stuck in Globe when I was running across the friggin country!!!

  4. Patrick,

The chunk you have bitten off of the Southwest to date is to be envied by the best of the best of the world's running population. There are worse places in AZ to be stuck. Show Low is one of them. Rejuvinate the knees & kick it. You deserve it. When the time is right to run, we all know you will not lack motivation. Stay warm and keep us updated. Tell us a little about your diet so far...What's for dinner and lunch when there is no Papa Johns and In-n-Out to pound in the same afternoon?
